The Customer Development Manager will be a critical player on our commercial team. This is a dynamic opportunity to become the internal sales lead coordinating between Field Sales as well as HQ Marketing & Supply Chain. This candidate must be a quick learner and have a wide experience in sales fundamentals including: Broker/retail team communication & KPI management, Export/Military Sales Coordination, Coordinate National/Regional/Customer trade strategy, Supporting Sales Target setting & gap analysis, collaborate with finance to manage the trade & slotting budgets, make trade re-allocation recommendations, identify new business development opportunities, provide fact based perspective of monthly volume forecast, and collaborate with HQ team on innovation & supply chain initiatives.
In addition, the candidate will be the field sales point to assure shipping location Supply Chain compliance, new customer set up process (images, price lists, portfolio), provide sales materials/tools to field teams, help support/manage special packs/shippers/displays, and provide input/manage inventory liquidation.
This is a very hands-on position requiring a mature, professional looking to quickly grow/expand his or her talent level within a fast growing competitive brand environment. This role strongly interacts with business leaders in Marketing, Operations, Finance, Procurement, Planning and Customer Service & Logistics to support key sales function and category objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Trade Funding & Business Development: Using strong analytical skills, this candidate will help to roll up and continuously improve the account level trade plans and resulting volumetric goal.
- Early each month, lead the prior & upcoming monthly sales volume forecast review to better understand performance and opportunities to improve in a timely basis.
- Ensure customer targets & trade plans are on track and/or gaps are properly identified.
- With finance as a supporting role, develop the trade budget, optimizing brand merchandising plans based on competitive activity & volume goals
- Create/track annual slotting & ensure trade fund by channel/account are accounted for
- Provide sales input related to innovation, customer marketing & promotional programming.
Sales Operations
- o Liaison with supply chain around any shipping allocation and or customer complaint coordination
- o Manage new customer set up process (portfolio, price list, jpeg images, etc.)
- o Liaison with Marketing & Finance on building and communicating Sales materials & tools
- o Build and manage, with marketing & supply chain, all special pack requests/pitches (ie Club, Customer specific, Shipper, Display Vehicle)
- o Create/submit display vehicle portfolio ideas to drive off-shelf activity
- o Communication of customer requirements (shelf life, inventory liquidation, aged products, display specs, line review timing) to the HQ team, to ensure timelines and presentations are properly managed.
- o Lead Sales function engagement for Monthly S&OP processes.
· Broker Management & Sales Coordination - o Retail, Export & Military Broker(s) and Sales Directors point of contact at HQ;
- o Work with VP Sales to determine account level Targets & Broker KPI’s to be managed on a quarterly basis
- o Broker sales contract alignment support (execution if possible)
- o Organize sales meetings/reviews within the organization
Desired Skills and Experience
B.A. or B.S. recommended
5+ years of experience in Field Sales, HQ Sales, Sales-Operations or related fields
Proficient in MS Office required, intermediate MS Excel required along with Powerpoint & presentation building capabilities;
• Working knowledge of quantitative methods to analyze situations and solve business problems
• Data management/databases Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication
Must be detail oriented, self-starter and comfortable taking initiative, as well as capable of producing high quality results on a sustainable basis
